Is this a real story?
Yes.
While some names and identifying details have been changed for privacy purposes, the experiences, timelines, immigration journey, and life transitions shared throughout this website are based on our real-life experiences.
Why are family members using Marvel-inspired names?
We chose to use fictional character-inspired names as a way of maintaining privacy while still sharing our journey openly and honestly online.
Are you immigration advisors or lawyers?
No.
We are simply documenting our family’s personal experience navigating the immigration process and rebuilding life in the United States.
Nothing on this website should be considered official immigration or legal advice.
How long did your Green Card process take?
Our family’s immigration process began in 2007 and continued through multiple stages over many years before we officially immigrated to the United States in March 2025.
Why did you move to America?
Part of the reason involved reconnecting geographically with family already living in the United States, while also pursuing new opportunities and experiences for our family.
Why Las Vegas?
Las Vegas became the place where family support, opportunity, affordability, and timing aligned for our transition into the United States.
Are you still adjusting to life in America?
Absolutely.
Immigration doesn’t end when you arrive.
Much of this website documents the ongoing process of:
- rebuilding stability
- finding employment
- navigating schooling
- adapting culturally
- and learning how to create a new version of everyday life
Do you homeschool Johnny?
Initially, homeschooling was something we strongly considered because Johnny had concerns about American schooling before moving.
However, after arriving in Las Vegas, he enrolled into local elementary school and has continued progressing both academically and socially.
What is “Living the Journey”?
Living the Journey is our real-time blog category documenting current milestones, reflections, challenges, and everyday life after immigrating to the United States.

Some posts contain affiliate links to products that helped us throughout:
